About Barrie Home Inspector
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Roger Frost brings a combination of professional inspection experience, building code knowledge and construction experience to every home inspection. Over more than 20 years, he has completed over 9,000 inspections of homes ranging from new construction to century homes.
His qualifications include Certified Master Inspector (CMI), Certified Building Code Official (CBCO) and WETT Certification. His training includes extensive Ontario Building Code courses covering structural systems, building envelopes, health and safety, large buildings, fire protection, change of use and other areas of residential and commercial construction.
Before becoming a home inspector, Roger gained practical construction experience as a former registered builder with HUDAC/TARION. He also spent seven years reviewing building projects for the Fire Department and has completed additional training in plans review, mould inspection and residential building systems.
This combination of formal training and hands-on experience helps identify not only visible defects, but also alterations and construction details that may deserve closer examination.
Professional Certifications

WETT Certification & Wood-Burning Systems
Roger is WETT Certified, providing additional knowledge and training in the inspection of wood-burning appliances, fireplaces, chimneys and related systems.
Wood-burning systems require careful examination because improper installation, deterioration or inadequate clearances from combustible materials can create significant safety concerns. WETT training provides specialized knowledge for identifying visible conditions that may affect the safe operation of these systems.
When a wood-burning appliance is present during a home inspection, this additional training and experience helps identify concerns that might otherwise be overlooked.
Certified Master Inspector – Experience That Matters
Roger is a Certified Master Inspector (CMI) with more than 20 years of professional home inspection experience and over 9,000 inspections completed.
That experience includes homes of virtually every age and construction type, from new construction and modern homes to century homes with older building materials and construction methods.
Experience matters during a home inspection. Recognizing unusual construction, previous repairs, structural alterations and developing problems often comes from having inspected thousands of homes and seeing how building systems perform over time.
The combination of extensive inspection experience and continuing professional education helps provide home buyers with a thorough and practical understanding of the property they are considering purchasing.
Ontario Building Code Training
Roger has completed extensive training through the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) covering many areas of the Ontario Building Code. This training provides a strong technical background for understanding how homes and buildings are designed, constructed and altered.
Training includes Part 9 Structural, Part 9 Building Envelope, Part 9 Health & Safety, Part 9 The House, Part 3 Large Buildings, Part 3 Fire & Structural, Part 3 Health & Safety, and Parts 10 & 11 Change of Use and Renovations.
Additional training includes Plans Examination and Review through the Department of National Defence, along with professional home inspection training through Carson Dunlop.
This building code knowledge is particularly valuable during home inspections when evaluating structural alterations, renovations, additions and other changes that may affect the safety or performance of a home.
Experience You Can Rely On
With more than 20 years of experience and over 9,000 home inspections completed, Roger has inspected homes of virtually every age, size and construction type throughout Barrie and the surrounding area.
Every home is different. Older homes may contain construction methods and materials that are no longer commonly used, while newer homes can have installation defects, incomplete work or modifications that deserve closer examination.
Experience helps put what is discovered during an inspection into perspective. The goal is not simply to identify defects, but to help you understand what is important, what may require attention and what is simply part of owning and maintaining a home.
A professional home inspection should leave you with a better understanding of the property and the information you need to make a confident, informed decision.
